ILITCH CHARITIES ANNOUNCES INAUGURAL CELEBRITY GOLF CLASSIC TO BENEFIT THREE LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS WITH UP TO A TOTAL OF $300,000

Request for Proposals Sought for Beneficiaries of Inaugural Celebrity Golf Classic Deadline for Proposals is April 23, 2008


DETROIT –Ilitch Charities Chairman Christopher Ilitch today announced it will host an inaugural Celebrity Golf Classic at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills Mich., on Monday, August 25, 2008, to further the work of Ilitch Charities and its associate organizations, the Detroit Red Wings Foundation and the Detroit Tigers Foundation.   The event will benefit up to three local, nonprofit organizations with up to a total of $300,000.

In addition to the golf activities on Monday, a pre-event Summer Soiree sponsored by MotorCity Casino Hotel is planned for the evening of Sunday, August 24.

Presenting sponsors of the event include MotorCity Casino Hotel, Buick and General Motors R*Works.  Other sponsors include: Tullymore, Tremco Incorporated, McInerney, Inc., KEM-TEC; and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.  Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Ilitch also announced that the event planning committee is seeking proposals from potential beneficiaries of the funds raised at the inaugural event.

“We recognize that continually improving our community is a broad-based effort that requires government, faith-based organizations, community and charitable groups, individuals and, importantly, the business community,” explained Ilitch.  “We are always looking for opportunities to lead efforts that allow us to partner with other companies, who like us want to make a difference in our community.”

The Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Tigers organizations will both participate in the festivities.  In addition, several national celebrities, many with ties to Michigan, are expected to attend to help raise important funds for local organizations.  Showing their giving spirit, several employees from various Ilitch companies will be volunteering at the event.

“Planning is well underway for what we think will be the most sought-after charity golf event in the region,” said Ilitch.  “There’s already a lot of interest from sponsors and there are just a limited number of sponsorships still available.  And, the initial requests for tickets for indicate that this will be the must-have ticket this summer!”

Request for Proposals from Potential Beneficiaries
Ilitch Charities will select up to three local, nonprofit organizations that are operating innovative, collaborative and measurable programs to benefit with up to a total of $300,000 from this inaugural fundraising event.  Ilitch Charities encourages and welcomes proposals from any organization committed to making our community better for all.  Organizations must meet the following criteria in order to be considered as a beneficiary of the event:
· Be located in and serve Southeast Michigan;
· Have IRS 501(c)(3) designation; and,
· Have a certified independent financial audit. 

To be considered as a beneficiary, organizations must submit a proposal to Ilitch Charities by April 23, 2008.  Proposals will be reviewed by a panel including representatives from Ilitch Charities and independent third-party entities.  Final decisions are at the sole discretion of the board of directors of Ilitch Charities.
